A Special Mothers Day

This mother’s day during worship we lit candles in memory or honor of a special woman in our lives – for some it was their mom or other relative, for others a Sunday School teacher or other special person.  You can view more pictures on the Mother’s Day Photo Album.

In addition to candlelighting, the children made mother’s day crafts for all the ladies of the church and distributed after worship. They made beautiful flower pens, a useful as well as pretty gift. Thanks kids!

This is a joyful day for many but can also be a very painful day for some who are grieving the loss of mothers and children or those whose relationships with their mothers have been neglectful or even abusive. We lifted up all in prayer and provided the space both for celebration as well as sadness.

We especially give thanks for our “spiritual mothers,” those women in our lives who have helped us grow in our faith in Christ and who have inspired us by their faithfulness.
