Worship today opened with the hymn, “Lift High the Cross” as youth processed in with the cross and placed on the altar. Nancy and one of our youth performed a wonderful drama of our Scripture reading from John 3:13-17. Our theme was snake bites! Jesus spoke of being lifted up on a pole and people being saved by looking at him, just as the people of Israel were saved by looking at the bronze snake Moses had lifted up in the wilderness. After the message all were invited forward to profess or renew their faith by looking at the cross, and taking a small stone with a cross etching to keep through Lent as a reminder to keep looking at the cross.
